"You can always rely on Malmsteen. You know what's coming: classical-influenced, melodic oriented eighties-heavy-metal, bounce off all the time and fashion trends. The maestro shows again his amazing finger acrobatics, which develops their effect sustainable especially in instrumental music like the fast "Shot Across The Bow", the easy-swinging "Relentless", the mid tempo held "Kings Of The Vasa Order" or the classic "Adagio B Flat Minor Variation". Of course there is otherwise the usual mixture of groove-oriented headbangers ("Critical Mass", the marching through "Caged Animal"), mid-tempo melodic rockers ("Axe To Grind"), more or less discreet-monumental epic poets ("Look At You Now", "Enemy Within" with its Gregorian choirs as introduction, the powerful "Into Valhalla") and up-tempo anthems ("Blinded"). And of course: The whole thing is in his well-measured blend extremely entertaining and guaranteed at least true-metal fans and traditionalists exquisite listening pleasure."

Heavy metal guitar enthusiasts rejoice! The world will soon be able to experience the stunning new album from guitar legend and classical metal master Yngwie Malmsteen. "Relentless" will hit streets on November 23 via Malmsteen's own Rising Force Records. The CD contains more than 60 minutes of brand new material and showcases the guitar great at his best with the signature virtuosity and mind-blowing technical speed for which he has come to be known. "Relentless" also features striking vocals from Tim "Ripper" Owens (JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH), who first collaborated with Malmsteen on 2008's critically-acclaimed "Perpetual Flame" (Malmsteen's first album for the Rising Force Records label).

"Shred guitar" and "neo classical metal" are two phrases that have been commonplace in the world of heavy metal for decades by this point, but both can be attributed to the unmistakable work by Yngwie Malmsteen.

Exciting news.. Yngwie Malmsteen will donate his guitar to the city of Bologna during the inauguration of Music Italy Show on Saturday, May 15th at 11,30 am. The Commissariat of Bologna (Mayor) will be present to accept this honor, together with the President of BolognaFiere. Multiple local authorities from the Emilia Romagna Region and Province and City of Bologna will also be in the audience. When asked how he felt about headlining the Music Italy show and now the donation to the City Of Bologna Yngwie responded “This is huge honor for me, I love Italy and the Italian people, they know how to love and appreciate music" The ceremony will open with a by the 65-piece Giuseppe Verdi Marching Band followed by Yngwie signing and presenting his guitar to the City Of Bologna.

From May 15th to 17th 2010 Bologna will host Music Italy Show – Italy’s most important trade fair featuring musical instruments, publishing, backstage equipment, DJ and discography. This project stems from a collaboration between the Association DISMAMUSICA – Distribution, Industry, Musical Instruments and Artisans – and BolognaFiere, Bologna’s exhibition center. More than 100 exhibitors will be present representing over 400 international brands of musical instruments. Not your usual trade show, the 3-day event includes more than 100 live performances on 3 different stages, a rich program of workshops and seminars and numerous special events such as LOVE ME FENDER, an exhibit which includes some of the most artistically significant examples of the legendary brand of electric guitars Fender and 26 related works by contemporary artists including paintings, sculptures, photographs and installations. In addition, following a sixcity roadshow, Music Italy Show will host the finals of the GUITAR HERO CONTEST where the winner will challenge a world-class guitarist. In occasion of Music Italy Show, Bologna will also host MUSIC HEAVEN BOLOGNA, a constellation of musical appointments promoted by BolognaFiere that will involve the entire city, named by UNESCO as one of the “Creative Cities of Music”. The 2010 edition is dedicated to the guitar, one of the most played instruments around the world. Beginning on May 12th Music Heaven Bologna will offer performances by important Italian and international guitarists from all genres, from classical to contemporary, rock, metal, blues and jazz.
Bologna’s historical medieval landmarks will become the backdrop for numerous events of interest
to both the public and the media. Palazzo Re Enzo is the location for the inaugural party on Friday
night, a DJ set of electronic, hip-hop and other contemporary sounds featuring Djs Cassius (France),
Crookers (Italy) and Pendulum (UK).

On Sunday the magnificent St. Stephen’s Basilica will host the renowned classical guitarist Walter
Zanetti, who, together with Bologna’s Philharmonic Orchestra, will perform “Concerto d’Aranjuez”
(J. Rodrigo). Proceeds from the event will be donated toward the restoration of the church, one of
Bologna’s most treasured monuments.

Monday evening the historic Opera House of Bologna offers its stage to the virtuoso gipsymanouche
guitarist Birali Lagrene, acknowledged heir of the celebrated master guitarist Django Reinhardt, for whom this year marks 100 years since his birth. Lagrene will be accompanied by his trio.

Yngwie Malmsteen Hand Wound
Pickups just for Haiti Benefit!

On January 18, 2010, Yngwie Malmsteen came to the Seymour Duncan factory for a post-NAMM factory tour. During his visit, Yngwie wound his first ever electric guitar pickups: a set of three true single coil pickups for Stratocaster. Tutoring him on winding technique was Seymour Duncan Custom Shop manager, Maricela Juarez.

The pickups are based on Leo Fenders vintage pickups designs for the Stratocaster. The magnets are sand-cast Alnico 2. The bobbins are hand-fabricated from forbon vulcanized fiber. The magnet wire is vintage-correct Heavy Formar. The d.c. resistance of the neck and middle pickups are 6.40K ohms each, which makes them vintage voiced. At 9.70K ohms, the bridge pickup is over-wound for a hotter, higher-output sound. Each pickup comes with an aged white cover and is ready to install into a Stratocaster or similar type electric guitar. Yngwie signed the bottom plates of each of the pickups as well as the description label for each (six signatures total).

You can hear Yngwie talk about his experience winding the pickups and even see Maricela giving him tips on the YouTube video that documented this very special day. Whether you are a collector of rock star memorabilia or a guitar tone aficionado, this one-of-a-kind set of working pickups hand-wound by the King of Shred himself will be the crown piece in the winners collection.

As Yngwie and Cathy Duncan mentioned in the video, all proceeds from the auction of this very special set of pickups will be donated to Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), the international humanitarian aid organization that is providing aid to Earthquake devastated Haiti. More than 700 MSF staff are working to provide emergency medical care to survivors in and around Port-au-Prince. Yngwie and Seymour Duncan are doing their part to help out. You can too. Description
The bridge pickup is aggressive and handles Yngwie's hard-hitting chordal onslaught. The neck pickup balances Yngwie's fluid left hand technique with his broad mix of right hand pick attack for a tone that's sweet and fluid, but with great articulation and responsiveness to dynamics.

Complete setup
The YJM series includes a dedicated bridge pickup and a separate neck/middle pickup. Pickups can be purchased individually, in a three-pickup set, or in a pre-wired pickguard ready to drop into your Strat guitar with an 11-screw hole "USA" pattern. The loaded pickguard includes a "no lube" volume potentiometer that meets Yngwie's demands for a very fast and responsive pot.

Guitars
The YJM Fury will directly retrofit most single-coil equipped guitars. Though originally designed for a Fender® Strat with a scalloped maple fingerboard, the YJM Fury will work well with any bolt-on guitar that utilizes traditional single-coil-size Strat pickups. The YJM Fury is the same pickup that Fender installs in their YJM Strat guitars.
