Exciting news.. Yngwie Malmsteen will donate his guitar to the city of Bologna during the inauguration of Music Italy Show on Saturday, May 15th at 11,30 am. The Commissariat of Bologna (Mayor) will be present to accept this honor, together with the President of BolognaFiere. Multiple local authorities from the Emilia Romagna Region and Province and City of Bologna will also be in the audience. When asked how he felt about headlining the Music Italy show and now the donation to the City Of Bologna Yngwie responded “This is huge honor for me, I love Italy and the Italian people, they know how to love and appreciate music" The ceremony will open with a by the 65-piece Giuseppe Verdi Marching Band followed by Yngwie signing and presenting his guitar to the City Of Bologna. PROJECT SUMMARY From May 15th to 17th 2010 Bologna will host Music Italy Show – Italy’s most important trade fair
featuring musical instruments, publishing, backstage equipment, DJ and discography. This project
stems from a collaboration between the Association DISMAMUSICA – Distribution, Industry,
Musical Instruments and Artisans – and BolognaFiere, Bologna’s exhibition center.
More than 100 exhibitors will be present representing over 400 international brands of musical
instruments. Not your usual trade show, the 3-day event includes more than 100 live performances
on 3 different stages, a rich program of workshops and seminars and numerous special events such
as LOVE ME FENDER, an exhibit which includes some of the most artistically significant
examples of the legendary brand of electric guitars Fender and 26 related works by contemporary
artists including paintings, sculptures, photographs and installations. In addition, following a sixcity
roadshow, Music Italy Show will host the finals of the GUITAR HERO CONTEST where the
winner will challenge a world-class guitarist.
In occasion of Music Italy Show, Bologna will also host MUSIC HEAVEN BOLOGNA, a
constellation of musical appointments promoted by BolognaFiere that will involve the entire city,
named by UNESCO as one of the “Creative Cities of Music”. The 2010 edition is dedicated to the
guitar, one of the most played instruments around the world. Beginning on May 12th Music Heaven
Bologna will offer performances by important Italian and international guitarists from all genres,
from classical to contemporary, rock, metal, blues and jazz.

Click here! (Link to eBay´s site) JANUARY 28, 2010 Yngwie Malmsteen Hand Wound On January 18, 2010, Yngwie Malmsteen came to the Seymour Duncan factory for a post-NAMM factory tour. During his visit, Yngwie wound his first ever electric guitar pickups: a set of three true single coil pickups for Stratocaster. Tutoring him on winding technique was Seymour Duncan Custom Shop manager, Maricela Juarez. The pickups are based on Leo Fenders vintage pickups designs for the Stratocaster. The magnets are sand-cast Alnico 2. The bobbins are hand-fabricated from forbon vulcanized fiber. The magnet wire is vintage-correct Heavy Formar. The d.c. resistance of the neck and middle pickups are 6.40K ohms each, which makes them vintage voiced. At 9.70K ohms, the bridge pickup is over-wound for a hotter, higher-output sound. Each pickup comes with an aged white cover and is ready to install into a Stratocaster or similar type electric guitar. Yngwie signed the bottom plates of each of the pickups as well as the description label for each (six signatures total). You can hear Yngwie talk about his experience winding the pickups and even see Maricela giving him tips on the YouTube video that documented this very special day. Whether you are a collector of rock star memorabilia or a guitar tone aficionado, this one-of-a-kind set of working pickups hand-wound by the King of Shred himself will be the crown piece in the winners collection. As Yngwie and Cathy Duncan mentioned in the video, all proceeds from the auction of this very special set of pickups will be donated to Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), the international humanitarian aid organization that is providing aid to Earthquake devastated Haiti.
